Use Codex from your phone

To use Codex from your phone, it has to run on a computer that stays on, and your phone needs a way in. OpenAI’s Codex Remote pairs the ChatGPT app with the ChatGPT desktop app on a Mac or Windows PC. wisp works with the Codex CLI on any computer, Linux included, or on a cloud box, and you open it from the Android app or any phone browser.

Try wisp Cloud

wisp Cloud: free during the preview, sign in with GitHub · or run wisp on your own computers, MIT

A wisp report for a finished Codex task: headline, numbers, the real diff and the test run

Three ways in

On a cloud box, with the laptop shut

  1. Open grid.trywisp.dev on your phone and press Continue with GitHub.
  2. Sign in to Codex: Settings → Agents → Sign in. wisp runs codex login --device-auth and shows a code; open the link, type it in, done. Do the same for gh if you want pull requests.
  3. Give Codex a task, pick the repo, and lock the phone. Codex keeps working on the server; the report waits for you.

On your own computer

  1. On the computer with your repos and Codex signed in, run wisp (npx wisp-agents) and open Machines → Reach this computer from anywhere. Allow the code on grid.trywisp.dev.
  2. On the phone, sign in to wisp Cloud in the Android app, or open grid.trywisp.dev in the browser. The computer is listed as Your computer · via grid: tap Open.
  3. Start Codex tasks there with that computer’s files and logins. Nothing on it listens on a port: it dialed out.

Questions

Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, in the browser: grid.trywisp.dev opens your cloud wisp and every computer you added. The native wisp app is Android only for now.
Can the computer run Linux?
Yes. wisp runs the Codex CLI on macOS, Linux and Windows (beta); the cloud box is Linux.
Which Codex plan do I need?
The one you already use: Codex signs in with your ChatGPT account or an API key, and its limits apply. wisp doesn’t resell model usage.
Is Codex Remote better?
If you live in the ChatGPT desktop app on a Mac or PC that stays awake, it’s the most direct. wisp fits when you use the Codex CLI, Linux, several computers or other agents, or want Codex to keep going with every computer off.
