Remote coding agent apps compared
Happy, Grass, CloudCLI and wisp all let you reach your coding agents from your phone, and they differ in three ways: which agents they drive, where those agents run (your computer, their cloud or both), and whether you can run all of it yourself. Here they are side by side, with what each is best at.

What each is best at
- Happy wraps the CLI you already use:
happy claudeorhappy codexinstead ofclaude, and the session follows you to a native phone app, end-to-end encrypted. Best when you want your exact terminal session on your phone. - Grass gives you an always-on VM and an iPhone app with fast permission notifications. Best when you want a hosted box and use Claude Code or opencode.
- CloudCLI (
npx @cloudcli-ai/cloudcli) is a web UI over your existing Claude Code, Codex and Cursor sessions, with files and git, on port 3001. Best as a browser IDE for your agents on your own network. - wisp sends tasks off rather than mirroring a session: each runs headless in its own worktree, on any of your computers or a cloud box, and comes back as a report with the diff and tests. Best when you run several agents or computers at once and want one queue for all of it.

Questions
- Which one can I fully self-host?
- Happy’s relay server is in its repo; CloudCLI runs on your machine; wisp runs on your computers and its grid (the server behind wisp Cloud) is in the same MIT repo, with sign-in and a sandbox per person.
- Which keeps working with my laptop closed?
- The ones with a box that stays on: Grass’s VM, CloudCLI’s cloud, wisp Cloud, or any of them on a desktop or server you leave running.
- Can I use several at once?
- Yes. They each start or wrap the agent CLIs on your computer and don’t conflict, as long as two agents don’t edit the same folder. wisp gives every task its own git worktree for that reason.
- Do any of them include model usage?
- No: all four use your own Claude, ChatGPT or other accounts, and those plans’ limits apply.
